Bracing for the Storm (by tom)

August 31, 2010 Buddy Fred's Dock

Wow, we went from no activity to mega activity in just a few short days. Check out this 2 pm image from NOAA and you can see what I'm talking about.

It appears tropical storm Earl has the potential to at least bush along the coast here at the Buddy Fred Resort, Day Spa and Marina, and as such we've begun getting the boat ready for high winds. It's still too early to say exactly what we can expect, but we're bracing for the worst.

We began clearing the decks and the dock of all gear and equipment and stowing it indoors in the boat house. Tomorrow morning I'll get the 8am forecast and if Earl's direction hasn't changed, we'll take down all the canvas and sails and then set out our anchors and lines to ride out the storm.

I'll update again tomorrow to let you know how it looks. Later.

Tom,

If you do set out the anchors and extra lines; how about some pictures. I'm sure our day will come when we have to do the same task.
Thanks

Tom

batten-down-the-hatches-, lower the boom, and swab the poop deck.....do whatever you need to do to be safe....send Amy and the furry friends to higher ground, ( only 'cause I know you won't leave the boat!)....Women and children first, right?!

....I know the captain is supposed to go down with the ship, But I think you're supposed to be at sea when that happens...remember that...please stay safe, Bonehead.....

your sister...the old one...
