End of Season Party (by Tom)

May 25, 2012 Monument Beach

Last night we had our season ending cookout at St. Francis with all of our G'Town friends. Eric and Susan, Jody and Dennis (Gryphon), Charlie and Michelle and the gang from Palm Bay Beach Club joined us with George and Gillian and the 3 couples currently staying at their hotel resort.

The plan had been to fire up the grill on the patio. to that end, everyone brought their own meat to be grilled, but at the pre-planned time, the rains showed up and drove us inside. Fortunately, the restaurant has a nice grill setup in the kitchen so George and I traded off manning the grill top and cooking everyone's food.

Once the food was done, I became the guest bar tender which is probably the last place you really want me if you own the bar, but everyone seemed to have a good time. Greg acted as my bar back/assistant mixologist and in between drink orders, we perfected our blue margaritas recipe.

All told, we managed to spend 6 hours just hanging out and talking and the rain stayed the entire time, but eventually we had to call it a night and face the elements. We got home about midnight, nearly drowning in the pouring rain and after drying ourselves off, we gathered the weasels and called it a day.

This morning half of the crew was hung over and slept in. The other half went spear fishing and scored a nice sized Nassau grouper, pictured above. I'll leave it to you, dear reader, to decide who was who.

Back on the mother ship, we did odd jobs throughout the day, but around 5 pm we battened down the hatches as the rain drops began to fall again. Amy called it a day around 8 pm and the BodhiWeasel and I sat in the salon and watched old Humphrey Bogart movies until midnight.

Here's lookin at you kid....

We got back to the Chesapeake Thursday afternoon after the roughest ride in seven weeks of cruising: North up the lower bay into 15 knots from due north.

I wish we could have connected in George Town; I would have stood you and Amy to a non-home-cooked meal of your choice, on a table cloth!  All you would have to do is watch other people eat their veggies.

Siesta is on the Market, and Page 83 is getting a face lift; possibly to return to the Bahamas next season.
