This morning I took "Grouper Style" and rode with the tide back to Dream Catcher with my freshly reassembled, but probably not repaired engine.
After a long twenty minute ride in some rough seas and 25 knots of wind, I arrived back at the mother ship. It took the better part of an hour, but I got the engine re-installed and it fired up on the first turn of the key.
I never did find anything that looked like it could be the source of disappearing engine oil, but who knows, maybe the engine fairies will sprinkle magic fairy dust and make it all better? I can hope right?
Once the engine job was done, I spent thirty minutes removing the gasket like material from around the main companion way door. The last time we closed our plexi-glass door, we weren't able to get a good seal and so last week when we went up to the hardware store, I scored 30 feet of that stuff you put between your pickup truck bed and it's fiberglass cap.
I ran out of time, so the install of the new gasket stuff will have to wait until next time.
I dinghied back across the harbour and met Amy in town at 3 pm. After a quick stop for emergency vegetables, we headed back to our temporary digs in time to watch the final two matches of the women's beach volleyball tournament from Germany. For the record, Brazil beat China in straight sets for the top spot.
Ok, that about wraps it up. More to follow, end of line ....
