Amy finally came home from New York on Sunday night. I picked her up at the psuedo airport in New Bern aroud 10 pm, but her luggage never showed so after filing a lost claim report we didn't get home until after midnight. With it already being so late, we opted to have a bottle of wine while I made a pizza with some dough I had made yesterday.
Amy brought me up to speed the grandmother situation while we ate and we didn't get to bed until 3 am. Needless to say we slept in the next day.
Our friends, Dave and Jan on the catamaran Zing showed up yesterday and are anchored out in the creek nearby. They came ashore last night for dinner with us and our next door neighbor Charles who just returned home from Williamsburg, VA. I tried out the Buddy Fred mega grill and made another rotiseree chicken as well as some potato wedges. Jan brought a salad and I made a loaf of breaf and some brownies for desert. We ate and ate and there were no leftovers.
We also took the Zing's with us into New Bern in the Amy-mobile and we hit just about every store there I think. By the time we got back to the Buddy Fred's, the car was loaded down with all manner of goodies. Goodies rock!
On the boating front, I've crossed several more projects off our list and I estimate that I am now half way through the work. In the last couple of days I've changed the engines oil and wired in new tachometer/hour meter combo units for both engines. I also removed both anchors and swapped the rode from the secondary anchor to the primary to give the old primary a season out of the water. Normally you would swap the chain end for end to even ut the wear, but as we always anchor with all 70 feet of our chain in the water this wouldn't accomplish anything.
While both anchors were out, I measured and marked both setups. The primary anchor (Rocna) has 70 feet of chain and 130 feet of rope rode and the backup (Delta) has 40 feet of chain and 250 feet of rope rode. I doubt you care about any of this, but now that I've written in the log, the next time I can't remember what lengths we have, hopefully I can use the search mechanism and find this log.
I think we are planning on taking the boat out for a test on Thursday or Friday so we can test a couple of the refinements I've been working on and see how they work. I finally got my camera charging again, so look for more pictures coming soon.
