Taco Extortion (by Tom)

We awoke to rain and low visibility this morning. The heavy weather kept me from hearing weather dude over the short wave radio, so I turned to the internet instead. I have several bookmarks that take me to the same data the weather dude uses, but somehow when I have to interpret the weather myself, it's not nearly as easy. Plus, who am I gonna yell at when it turns out the forecast was wrong? Dammit weather dude! Where were you !?!

So from what I could tell, the weather was going to stay over cast and rainy until around 3 pm, so we decided to postpone leaving until tomorrow. Instead, Amy took the dinghy back in to town this morning to get herself a bottle of gin (I didn't remember yesterday), to but a few veggies, and to visit the library. While she was in town, I upped anchor and moved back to the seclusion of Fergusson Point, where I anchored in our usual spot, in 5 feet of water, entirely alone with out another boat in sight.

Two hours or so later, Amy returned in the dinghy and we unpacked her books, groceries and gin. She retired to our cabin to read while I sat in the cockpit and played with Marley. After a half hour of serious playing, Marley then assisted me in making bread and boiling eggs.

The rain continued off and on until almost sunset, so things were pretty low key on board. I made rum smoothies for happy hour and we listened to the only Bahamian radio station we pick up for an hour. Amy made a mondo chef salad for dinner while I cooked a loaf of white bread. We ate dinner and read books before rounding up the weasels and calling it a day at the ultra late hour of 7:30.

Of course at 8:15 the Rake and Scrape band started up right outside our window at the Bistro on February Point. Apparently they have been engaged to play Taco Tuesday's though the end of May. Just an FYI, Taco Tuesday at February Point costs $16 per person for all you can eat tacos and they sell their beers for $7 a piece. Maybe it's just me, but you'd have to eat a lot of freaking tacos to get your money worth there. From what I hear, they aren't even offering the mega cool, super modern, self standing shells. Man, that sort of sounds like taco extortion to me.

Amy managed to fall asleep serenaded by the sounds of the band, but I went outside and sat in the cockpit with a glass of rum and listened to the band play until midnight. Stay tuned, tomorrow we depart.
