Water Economy (by Tom)

The wind was far enough down to the south this morning that our anchorage had grown uncomfortable, so we upped anchor and motored down to Malone's Helmut to hide from the winds. By 8 am we were re-anchored and Amy promptly went back to bed. The weasels and I made pizzas and then read a book together.

Amy woke up again around 10:30 and after some vegetable goo to fortify herself, we went swimming off the back of the boat. To save time, I also brought a bar of soap to shower with after swimming. That may sound little wierd, but at 30 cents a gallon, fresh water is something of a precious commodity.

As an aside, Lifeguard bar soap does in fact bubble up when used in salt water.

By noon we were both clean and relaxing in the salon with our books. The weasels made various passes through out the afternoon looking for treats and rubs, but other than that, we didn't do to much.

Around 4 pm I watched The Siege with Denzel Washington, which I have seen before, but it is still a good movie. Actually, it's kind of scary given the current nature of things for the US abroad, but there you have it. While Marley and I watched the movie, Amy made conch salad. I taste tested several bites and I can report it as being most excellent but very spicy.

Dinner was conch salad (go figure) and bread slices and there were no leftovers. The wind is supposed to clock to the west and then the north west tonight, so I imagine we'll be moving the boat in the dark back up to the north end of the anchorage to keep us out of the wave action. Why can't these damn fronts at least have the decency to come through in the daylight?
